Ethiopia Trekkers Return

November 14 2009 Expeditions & Challenges

On October 21st a team eight Ethiopiaid supporters set out to trek through the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia. The team covered almost 100 miles, walking up to 13 hours a day, and succeeded in scaling Ras Dashen, the highest mountain in Ethiopia at a gruelling 4,620 metres.

The trekkers tackled altitude sickness, snake encounters and mosquitoes, trekking in both hail and 35ºc heat and even a bullfight in their campsite, to raise over 10,000 GBP of vital funds for the charity.

One of the trekkers, Charlotte Carson, said

"It was by far the toughest challenge that any of us have ever completed and all of us wanted to quit at least once during the trip. But we're all proud of our accomplishment and to have supported Ethiopiaid."
